BLOOM was proud to be represented at the 16th IAGOD Quadrennial Symposium 2026, held at the University of Porto from 30 August till 2 September.
Project partners from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and the University of New Brunswick delivered three presentations:
Percy Escalante Salcedo (UPC) presented BLOOM and its approach to developing an online mineralogical monitoring system to support mineral processing and decision-making, highlighting the importance of geological setting, mineralogy and textures in understanding ore processing behaviour.
Gladys Ochoa (UPC) presented her PhD research on representative mineralogical characterisation of polymetallic sulphide ore based on Gy’s Sampling Theory, developed in collaboration with BLOOM.
Manju Sati (University of New Brunswick) presented research on base- and critical-metal enrichment in the Paleoproterozoic Lalor VMS Deposit, based on preliminary in-situ trace-element geochemistry.
The event provided a valuable opportunity to share BLOOM’s work with the international geoscience community, exchange knowledge with researchers from around the world and build new connections for future collaboration.
A big thank you to our project partners for representing BLOOM and sharing their research!
