During the 5th International Professional Geology Conference (IPGC), held from 5–7 November 2025 in Zaragoza, Spain, the winners of the Late-Breaking Student Poster Call were recognised for their research on Critical Raw Materials (CRMs).

This special call was sponsored by the BLOOM project in collaboration with the European Federation of Geologists (EFG). The initiative aimed to encourage student participation in CRM-related research by offering travel grants, full conference access, and a platform to present their work to an international audience.

During the event, the awardees were honoured with certificates acknowledging their commitment to research on sustainable resource development.

BLOOM congratulates the awardees for their inspiring contributions:

  • Mahsa Pourmohammad Golloujeh (BLOOM awardee) – Urban mining of electronic wastes: characterization and separation of strategic metals as a sustainable geological resource
  • Juan David Solano Acosta (BLOOM awardee) – Oxidised rapakivi magmatism and crustal architecture in the earliest AMCG suite: geochemical and geophysical insights from Estonian intrusions along the Paldiski–Pskov shear zone, Wiborg Complex, Fennoscandia
  • Sebastian Walczak (EFG awardee) – Integrated remote sensing monitoring of land surface instability in post-mining regions of critical raw materials in southern Poland

By supporting this initiative, BLOOM reaffirms its commitment to fostering innovation, research excellence, and new talent in the field of critical raw materials — key to Europe’s sustainable and secure raw materials future.
